Designed to comfortably position the foot in a controlled amount of dorsi flexion to provide a gentle stretch to the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon. This gentle stretch helps reduce the muscle contracture, inflammation and associated pain. The lightweight, low profile shell is sturdy and breathable and has three padded straps with buckles to ensure immobilization. The soft foam interior is brethable to eliminate heat buildup and the adjustable dorsi flexion straps provide a gentle stretching of the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon. The purpose of night splinting is to keep the patient's ankle in a neutral position overnight, passively stretching the calf and plantar fascia during sleep. The intent is to allow the fascia to heal. Clinical study of night splinting has yielded mixed reviews. Some reports claim improvement in approximately 80 percent of patients. (11) In contrast, one study of 116 patients showed no benefit after three months compared to no treatment. (9) source: Alternative Medicine Review , June, 2005 by Mario Roxas

Hello,
I've had Plantar Fascitis for over a year now. Finally a few months ago, I read about night splints online and decided to try them. I tried two other night splints before this one, the Futuro Plantar Fascitis Sleep Support and the Strassburg Sock, both of which failed to keep my foot at a 90 degree angle at night and relieve pain the morning. I regret wasting my money on those. Then I decided to try a "boot" like one instead and got this one because it was the cheapest. I've worn it for a week and can feel the difference and its a very good product. It keeps my feet virtually immobilized and once you get it adjusted, putting it on or taking it off is easy, you just undo the buckles. Takes 5 seconds, even in the middle of the night. Also, its pretty comfortable too, but at this point I am used to wearing foot contraptions to bed. I am definitely considering purchasing a second to prevent PF from reoccurring in my other foot.

I had a night splint I got from a Podiatrist several years back, but seem to have misplaced in a recent move, and ordered this as a replacement. It has all the same straps across calf, ankle and foot, and up the sides. it's easily adjustable and everything attaches with velcro. One surprise - also included is a small white wedge under the toe, which I must have missed in the product description, a nice addition.

I'm struggling with plantar fasciitis (pf). I tried the Futuro soft splint first - the only way to make it work was to adjust it so tightly that your foot and toes went numb and I couldn't sleep the night in it. I also found that the soft splint would never hold my foot in the right position all night which is critical. The splint I'm reviewing here is significantly better. It definitely holds your foot in the right position and I have noticed an improvement after only 3 days of using it - I wake up with little or no pain from the pf. I have found that I can walk in this splint (short trips to the bathroom) and it's not too bad to sleep in. The one drawback is that sometimes it can be uncomfortable and a few times the discomfort has actually woken me up in the night. I don't consider that a showstopper - you're wearing a contraption to bed so I don't expect it to be completely comfortable and I consider it worth it to fight the pf. Overall this is a good product at a good price and I recommend it.

This is a hard night splint to get used to,
but it WORKS! It's the only one I've found that creates enough pull
on the fascia and it doesn't squeeze your toes like the soft splints
do.

This is the second night splint I've owned for plantar fasciitis. The first one was just as comfortable but much more difficult to take on and off. This one is very easy since you just release the buckles. It did take me about a week to get this one to be comfortable; at first I had some of the velcro wraps set too tightly, even though they felt okay when I went to sleep. But then I would wake up within an hour or so with a strange burning sensation in my toes. But after some adjustments it is now comfortable (as much as something like this can be) and it doesn't bother me when I'm sleeping. It has definitely helped reduce the pain level I felt getting out of bed in the morning. Note: if ordering this from Amazon, I had some difficulty: I choose a medium size, but the size did not show up on the order and I was hesitant to submit it but I finally did. My instincts were right; I received a Large instead. I emailed Alpha Brace, and they sent me a medium, along with a postage paid envelope to return the wrong size splint.

heel pain was so bad, I dreaded getting out of bed in the morning. This splint has been wonderful! No more morning pain! Can be worn with a sock or barefoot, depending upon the weather and preference. Easily adjusts to foot with comfortable, padded velcro straps. Buckles hold individual adjustments and make removal easy. Molded frame is a bit clumsy, but you get used to it after a few nights. Removable toe wedge increases flex. Removable padding for cleaning ease. I like the open design which is very breathable. I have been happy with this purchase and the results achieved.

I had been suffering for months and this device really works along with some high quality athletic shoes with excellent arch support but again this did help me. I thought it would be difficult to sleep with it on but it is hardly a problem

I am so glad that I bought this style of boot support for Plantar Fascitis because of the plastic clips. The clips allow you to remove the boot easily at night if you need to get out of bed. Once you have it adjusted to fit you just clip the straps off or on. Other types you have to rip open the velcro each time to put it on or off. So far it has been helping my foot pain. I am glad I bought this.
